We are joining a new campaign to urge the new Prime Minister to change course on the government’s policy to banish refugees to Rwanda. #FillTheSkiesWithHope runs until 9 November 2022. *EDIT - we will now continue the campaign into the new year as we stand against flights to Rwanda.*

Help us #FillTheSkiesWithHope to stop the flights to Rwanda!

Here's how you can get involved:

  1. Get your friends, neighbours, colleagues, pupils and/or service-users at your local group, faith gathering, school or office, to make orange heart-shaped aeroplanes out of paper.

  2. Have everyone write a personal message of what they think about the government’s plan to send refugees away. E.g. "I can't imagine being sent away, after fleeing terror and taking huge risks to get here”. “Everyone deserves safety.” Or, use this suggested message:

Sending refugees to another country without the chance to have their case heard in the UK and with no official route back is inhumane. You are turning your back on the UK’s responsibility to people fleeing war and persecution. Cancel these cruel plans to send refugees to Rwanda now.
    Yours sincerely

  3. Launch / fly your planes at the same time for a photo (and video, if possible). You may have to do this more than once to capture it.

  4. Post the picture (and/or video), with one of the messages, the hashtags #FillTheSkiesWithHope #CalderdaleStandsWithRefugees and tag your MP. Make sure to let them know how many people were involved in your stunt.

  5. Collect the planes and either drop them off at St. Augustine's Centre or arrange a collection. We'll deliver them to our local MP to make sure all of our voices are heard!
