In 2011, Calderdale Council and its partners launched the Safe Places Scheme. This is to increase the safety and confidence of vulnerable people when they visit Halifax town centre.

The Safe Place scheme means that busy public places can offer support to vulnerable adults who may need help and we are really happy to be one of these places!

We are one of the public places that are demonstrating that we are a safe haven and can offer support if an individual who is distressed, being harassed, bullied, or is feeling unwell.

Contact cards with the Safe Place logo have been issued to people with learning difficulties, so they can be carried when in town.

If they need to call into a Safe Place and need assistance, staff will help them, ring the number and keep them safe until help arrives.
