Join Refugee Action as Project Manager for the Transitions Project and be part of supporting refugees and asylum seekers in Kirklees and Calderdale.

The Transitions project will support asylum seekers, refused asylum seekers and newly granted refugees through a mixture of advice, advocacy and casework as well as through volunteer-led buddying and evidence-gathering and the provision of therapeutic services.

In this key role, you will oversee the establishment and development of Transitions in Kirklees and Calderdale, provide ongoing project management to our partners and lead on delivery of move-on support to new refugees and evidence gathering for people considering fresh claims or appeals.

You will have:

• Excellent project management skills.

• Experience of developing and managing partnerships with other organisations in support of clients.

• Understanding of the asylum system and asylum support system and ability to provide advice, including legal advice around the asylum process and related support entitlements;

• Understanding of the mainstream benefits and housing systems and ability to support people recently granted refugee status to gain access to benefits and housing.

• Experience of recruiting, supervising, training, coaching and motivating volunteers in an advice capacity;

• Ability to assess the support provision needs of services (Refugee Action or external), and experience of capacity building in order to address these needs.

• Flexible and innovative approach to piloting new working methods – particularly in relation to outreach and community based work;

The post holder will be expected to work towards OISC accreditation.
