By the end of 2016, 65.6 million individuals were forcibly displaced worldwide as a result of persecution, conflict, violence, or human rights violations. That was an increase of 300,000 people over the previous year, and the world’s forcibly displaced population remained at a record high. The number of new displacements was equivalent to 20 people being forced to flee their homes every minute of 2016, or 28,300 every day.

This is the harsh reality for many of our friends that come to our centre every day for help, support, advice and a listening ear. Their stories are incomprehensible. We can only carry on helping them with the support of our loving community and for that we thank you.

If you are wondering how you can help please feel free to come and visit us to see our work for yourself. We always welcome new visitors and friendly faces to the Centre.

You can also make a massive difference to small charities like us by donating to our #helpinghalifax campaign.

• via our give.net page – https://www.give.net/20171078

• by sending a cheque payable to St. Augustine’s Centre.

• or by popping some loose change into one of our collection tins at the Centre.
