St. Augustine’s Centre NEEDS YOU!
We are continuing to support over 600 individuals and families in our local community and across Calderdale, including refugees, asylum seekers, EU migrants and other vulnerable people.
Many need help accessing food, medical supplies and GP support, interpreted information, and activities to deal with isolation. Few have access to WIFI, some simply welcome someone to talk to. We have adapted our services to safely respond and are currently providing phone advice, takeaway hot lunches, a food parcel delivery service, online English Language tuition and accommodation support. Our next focus is to make and deliver activity packs, and help people access WIFI and use of computers.
How you can help
£5 buys an English Language workbook; £10 helps a destitute Asylum Seeker; £20 serves up 6 nutritious takeaway lunches; £40 enables a month of WIFI for a shared house; £100 makes 10 family activity packs.
As well as one off donations, we currently have 22 people who kindly donate monthly. We want to grow that to 100 people. Can you help us reach that target? To donate please click here.
The response to our appeal has been incredible. We’ve had some very generous donations and, for now, we have enough items for our activity packs.
We are still in need of disused but working laptops, tablets and computers which Solidaritech will wipe and repurpose for us.
Every Tuesday, from 10am – 12noon, our support centre on Hanson Lane will be open for deliveries (social distancing measures and PPE in place). Find us here.
