Happy International Women's Day 2018

Yesterday we celebrated International Women's Day at the Queen's Road Neighbourhood Centre. Women from our community came together to share their stories, their different cultures and music from all around the world. The result? A great big party and a room filled with laughter, dancing and a truly uplifting sense of empowerment!

A fashion show took place and was led by Sisters United, a grass roots group, made up of strong Women who support and empower one another. Yesterday was testament to how great things can happen when people come together in solidarity and support of one another.

#PressforProgress – A strong call to motivate and unite friends, colleagues and whole communities to think, act and be gender inclusive...Well we certainly did that!

"Leaving behind nights of terror and fear

I rise

Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear

I rise

Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,

I am the dream and the hope of the slave.

I rise

I rise

I rise"

- Maya Angelou
